The older I get, the more I appreciate growing up in LM when we did.........Times are pretty crazy now to say the least. How to summarize 50 years? Wow - where the heck did the time go? I spent the first half of my career at Texas Building Products, a wholesale building products company. Second half of my career was at The United States Courts, Southern Distict of Texas as Financial Services Manager. While with the court, I completed my BBA at U of St. Thomas and followed up with my MPA at University of Houston. I was able to retire in 2016 and haven't looked back - I am loving retirement! Hubby Bob and I celebrate our 46th anniversary the day after this reunion. We were blessed with three boys---Rob and Nathalie and their daughter Lauren---Robert H (deceased)---and Ryan and Adrienne and daughters Addison and Ainsley. Brother Tom and his family live in Austin and my sister Barbara and hubby live in OC, California. My parents Parker and Ellen are both deceased but enjoyed a good life after retiring in Corpus Christi. Bob and I lived and raised the boys in Spring Branch (Houston). As empty nesters, we moved to Lake Houston in 2003. That home goes on the market soon and we have bought a home in NW Austin to be closer to the family. We are now back and forth between both houses 'fixing upping' on both. We travel with the company of our newest "child" Ace, our two year old white German Shepherd. (Update 2020 - Lake Houston house SOLD and we now reside fulltime in ATX, which is getting weirder every day!) We like to travel and it seems like a beach is always the common denominator wherever we land. That must be a born on the island thing! Jamaica is my happy place with the Gulf Coast beaches of Florida vying for a close second place. (Update 2021 - I just want to travel anywhere again - getting tired of the backyard!) |

2017–How time flys! My life over the last 50 years has taken a few twists and turns. Darrell and I were married 24 years, divorced for 10 years, and remarried for 18years. We have 2 Daughters, Shelley, 47 and Stephanie, 44. 3 Grandchildren, Josh 25, Nevin, 9, and Emma, 3. 1 Great-grandchild, Josh Jr., 11 months. We are very busy with family . I am semi-retired. I sold my shares in my salon and spa business in 2015. Still working a few days a month at the salon and spa and have been substitute teaching over the last couple of years at College of the Mainland. My parents,87 and 89, require more help now. We moved them closer to me 3 years ago. My sister, caregivers , and myself are pretty busy helping with their needs. I tell myself everyday that I am blessed to still have them! Darrell and I are blessed to still have our health and hope to do some traveling in the near future! |
